InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort Celebrates Seventh Anniversary

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort celebrates seven memorable years of true hospitality on 1 June.

Designed by legendary architect Bill Bensley, the luxury resort became an architectural icon when it opened, showcasing the very best of Vietnamese culture and tradition in a mythical 39-hectare paradise.

Within a year, it had appeared on Fodor’s list of The Best Hotels Around the World and the Hot List of Best New Hotels in the World by the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards.  It has gone on to be recognised by Travel + Leisure, the Business Traveller Awards, the World Travel Awards, CNN and the Forbes Travel Guide, among others.

It has hosted several high-profile corporate and diplomatic events, including the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Summit, attended by 21 heads of state.

This year, the resort introduced A Taste of Luxury, a series of premium gastronomic experiences at award-winning restaurant La Maison 1888. It began in March with Château Angelus, one of the foremost properties in Saint- Émilion, with owner and winemaker Hubert de Boüard de Laforest on hand. It was followed by a dinner with the storied Bordeaux estate Château Palmer in April. The third event will be 10 July with Château Pichon Baron, and the fourth on 31 August with Champagne Billecart-Salmon and three Michelin-starred Chef Pierre Gagnaire himself.

In line with a commitment to protect the biodiversity of the Son Tra Nature Reserve, the resort also welcomed a new zoologist to the team to lead conservation efforts, including regularly scheduled wildlife walks and the construction of bridges to help resident primates in crossing from one area of their forested habitat to another. The reserve is home to over a thousand species of flora and fauna, including the rare red-shanked douc langur.

These initiatives were spearheaded by Mr. Juan Losada, General Manager, who has been at the helm of the resort for three years and has overseen much of its success. He was recently named General Manager of the Year for the second time in a remarkable career with the InterContinental Hotels Group.

“It is a privilege to be a part of so many indelible memories as we mark this milestone in our history,” Mr. Losada said. “We look forward to creating many more beautiful stories with our guests here on Monkey Mountain.”
