Bensley Outsider Gallery Opens at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort

An exciting new art experience has opened at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, the Bensley Outsider Gallery. Featuring the colourful, bold work of internationally renowned architect and designer Bill Bensley, the Outsider Gallery is a naturally-lit pavilion in a cobblestone courtyard, where guests can view and purchase Bensley’s prints and original paintings. Visitors can also hear the story behind each artwork through a unique interactive storytelling approach using QR codes and YouTube videos.

“Bill Bensley has had a long relationship with our Resort, as he designed it – and continues to do so as we change and evolve,” said Seif Hamdy, General Manager of InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to be able to showcase his artworks to the public. We are proud to be his exclusive gallery in Vietnam. And the Outsider Gallery adds another new experience for our guests – one of a number that we will be introducing in the coming year,” he said.

Bensley is well-established as a landscape designer, architect and interior designer, and started painting just three years ago. Thus the gallery’s name – Outsider – reflects his feeling that as he is not a traditionally trained artist, he is an outsider in the art world.

However, he is very much an artist. He paints in a fauvist style, bursting with beautiful bold colours, delightful forms, often a touch of humour, and incorporating his trademark gift of storytelling.

The Outsider Gallery at InterContinental Danang Resort features 50 works, including prints and original paintings. Prices start at USD 250. Passionate about wildlife protection, Bill directs the proceeds from sales to charities which aims to reduce wildlife poaching in Southeast Asia.

The Gallery is open 9:00–18:00 Wednesdays through Sundays, and no appointment is necessary. It is located on the Sky Level of the resort.
