La Maison 1888, French restaurant led by a three-starred Michelin chef Pierre Gagnaire with its home at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, has been recognized by Wine Spectator’s 2018 Best of Award of Excellence for its outstanding wine cellar. Last year, the restaurant also earned the Award of Excellence title.
In 2018, Wine Spectator is honoring 3,759 restaurants—hailing from all 50 states and more than 75 countries—for their outstanding dedication to wine. The awards are given across three categories: Award of Excellence, Best of Award of Excellence and Grand Award. La Maison 1888 is recognised in the category of Best of Award of Excellence, which names restaurants whose wine lists display excellent breadth across multiple winegrowing regions and/or significant vertical depth of top producers, along with superior presentation.
Artfully designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley, the wine cellar at La Maison 1888 is one of the largest temperature controlled walk-in wine cellars in Vietnam. More than 2000 bottles of wine are beautifully arranged on the wooden racks, including the most premium names, such as the “gems” of Premieur Grand Cru Classé wines (Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Lafite Rothschild, Haut Brion and Chateau Margaux). Diners at La Maison 1888 are also invited to visit this one of a kind wine cellar.
